This diagram is using the factory coil so the 'pink' resistor wire is used. A separate 12V feed is required for the Duraspark module (red wire)

The diagram below is using a 'high performance' coil like the Pertronix Flamethrower so the 'pink' resistor wire is bypassed.

On both configurations the white wire connection is not necessary, but it's function is to energize the "retard while starting" function of the Duraspark II module. When cranking the engine, the module actually retards the spark so the engine can crank easier. This allows you to run additional initial advance.
