So, on a flying forum I frequent, someone asked the age-old question of: "In a retractable gear airplane, should I tap the brakes before retracting to stop the wheels spinning?".........and this epic response was posted:

Brother Maynard; Bring forth the holy handbook of normal operations:

Brother Maynard: "Operations Chapter 2; verse 9 to 21:"

First, before bestowing thy gear; thou shalt tappeth thine brakes for a count of Three; no more, no less. Three shall be the number of the count of holy brake tapping. Four shall thou not count nor shall it be two, excepting thou shall continue the count to three. Five is Right Out!

Once the number three being the third number being reached, we beseech thee to layeth hands upon the landing gear lever and with due haste place it the exalted position.

Upon acknowledgement by the holy trinity of green lamps being lit; thou shalt refer to the rubrics for cruise flight and commence your ascension toward the heavens." :)

apologies to Monty Python
