Ok, so, most of you know I'm going hydro on the clutch for the toploader. I thought I had a bracket figured out, but, I think what I had in mind would be in the way of the exhaust pipes. So, was 'neath the car this weekend pondering......and here's what I'm thinking:

Use a pusher type slave instead of the puller I was going to use, and mount it to the lip of the bell housing. This would require that I drill/tap at least one more hole in the bell lip. I might be able to do it in such a way as to use an existing hole where the spacer plate attaches. Doing it this way would keep it well clear of the exhaust, and, more than likely be a much simpler bracket to make.

The poser is, is there any reason I should NOT add holes to the lip of the bell housing? Think of any issues I could be overlooking?

Thanks!
Three

I can't think of any reason why it would be an issue. But like I've said several times before, my car is smart enough to shift itself. So when it comes to clutches and hydros and slaves....

*edited* to save T2 some time doing it for you......

.

My thought is, there are already four holes drilled into the lip, anyway, what's another one or two??

especially for something like that ... I wouldn't think they'd have to be too big so I wouldn't think there's be a strength issue at all

Let's see... the guy is in need of some help yet he's going to be a wiseass on top of it all. SPK

With the number of bolts through the bellhousing already, couldn't you make the bracket so that it works off of one of the existing holes Sounds to me like some I-Bob is rubbing off on you and you're overthinking it.

See original post, third sentence, second paragraph.......

"might" be able to, but, they are so spread out across that bottom arc, that I might NOT be able too. Will crawl back underneath there and give it some more thought.
